Hello my name is Leon. Welcome to my "Blog In Book Format" example. This is a tutorial for Big Blog Directory.

People have asked me how they could make a blog look more like a book. This is a basic method that doesn't make any modifications to the template.

The method isn't perfect and some issues can't be dealt with without modifying the template html. The most visible example being the empty space where the sidebar should be.

This is however a basic introduction to the idea. Bloggers can start with this idea and build upon it. This tutorial is lincensed under a Creative Commons license.

Chapter 1

The first thing you need to do is write some posts. Blogger will arrange these in reverse chronological order - ie: latest posts at the top of the page. You need to change the post time and date (in post options below) so that earlier chapters are "later" in time than chapters that follow them. This is so that bloggers navigation system will lead to correct pages.

So:

Write your book and edit it.
Arrange the chapters by changing the post time and date.

Now go on to Chapter 2 by clicking on "Older Posts".

The next step is to link all of your chapters and other book sections.

Right click on the post title (eg: chapter 1) and select "copy link location".
Select the appropriate text and create a link using the green "link" button above.
Check your links to make sure that they all work.

Now go on to Chapter 3.

The final thing to do is hide the time and date information, and the sidebar items.

Go to Template > Page Elements > Blog Posts and deselect all items that are visible to visitors. Change the "number of posts on main page" to one.

Go to Template > Page Elements and delete all of the page elements in the sidebar. You will see something like this:

Remove unwanted elements and check your blog.
